The “lake of fire” will be a literal lake of lava, which is why it is called “lake of fire”,

…the lake of fire. (Revelation 20:15)

For lava is a liquid to be a “lake”, and also extremely hot to be a “fire”,

Which is a lake of lava that does not exist yet, because it will begin to form at the second coming of the Messiah, for that is when he will take his seat on his throne on earth, to begin the “judgment”, where books will be opened, which is when a river of lava will begin to flow to form the lake of lava, to serve a purpose for that “judgment”, which is “punishment”,

As I looked, thrones were placed, and the Ancient of Days took his seat; his clothing was white as snow, and the hair of his head like pure wool; his throne was fiery flames; its wheels were burning fire. A river of fire issued and came out from before him. Thousands upon thousands served him; ten thousand times ten thousand stood before him. The court was seated, and the books were opened. (Daniel 7:9-10)

For everyone on earth will be gathered by angels, the angels the Messiah will come with, and taken to the Valley of Jehoshaphat, which is the location of where the “judgment” will be, which is outside the eastern wall of old Jerusalem, and will be stripped naked to put them to shame,

Yehovah, your hand is lifted high, but they do not see it. Let them see your zeal for your people and be put to shame; let the fire reserved for your enemies consume them. (Isaiah 26:11)

All my enemies will be overwhelmed with shame and anguish; they will turn back and suddenly be put to shame. (Psalm 6:10)

And will be judged by having accusations read against each man, according to their evil works that are written in books, where many will wail in grief, and others will gnash their teeth in fury,

there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth. (Matthew 13:49-50)

Which is a “judgment” that the people of God will be given authority to carry out, who will also take a seat on thrones to judge, to thus render “punishment” unto the lawless by condemning each of them to be thrown into the newly formed lake of lava,

When the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, then he will sit on his glorious throne. Before him will be gathered all the nations, and he will separate people one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats. And he will place the sheep on his right, but the goats on the left. Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world… “Then he will say to those on his left, ‘Depart from me, you cursed, into the aeonial fire prepared for the devil and his angels. (Matthew 25:31-41)

I will gather all nations and bring them down to the Valley of Jehoshaphat. There I will put them on trial for what they did to my inheritance, my people Israel, because they scattered my people among the nations and divided up my land. (Joel 3:2)

And God will provide rest for you who are being persecuted and also for us when the Master Yeshuah appears from heaven. He will come with his mighty angels, (2 Thessalonians 1:7)

For the Son of Man is going to come in his Father’s glory with his angels, and then he will reward each person according to what they have done. (Matthew 16:27)

If anyone is ashamed of me and my words in this adulterous and sinful generation, the Son of Man will be ashamed of them when he comes in his Father’s glory with the set-apart angels.” (Mark 8:38)

Yehovah thunders at the head of his army; his forces are beyond number, and mighty is the army that obeys his command. The day of Yehovah is great; it is dreadful. Who can endure it? (Joel 2:11)

The Son of Man will send out his angels, and they will weed out of his kingdom everything that causes sin and all who practice lawlessness. (Matthew 13:41)

This is how it will be at the end of the aeon. The angels will come and separate the wicked from the righteous and throw them into the blazing furnace (Matthew 13:49-50)

You saw me before I was born. Every day of my life was recorded in your book. Every moment was laid out before a single day had passed. (Psalm 139:16)

Or do you not know that the set-apart ones will judge the world? And if you are to judge the world, are you not competent to judge trivial cases? Do you not know that we will judge angels? How much more the things of this life! (1 Corinthians 6:2-3)

I saw thrones on which were seated those who had been given authority to judge. And I saw the souls of those who had been beheaded because of their testimony about Yeshuah and because of the word of God. They had not worshiped the beast or its image and had not received its mark on their foreheads or their hands. They came to life and reigned with the Messiah a thousand years. (Revelation 20:4)

He will judge between the nations and will settle disputes for many peoples. They will beat their swords into plowshares and their spears into pruning hooks. Nation will not take up sword against nation, nor will they train for war anymore. (Isaiah 2:4)

Our God comes and will not be silent; a fire devours before him… to the wicked person, God says: “What right have you to recite my laws or take my covenant on your lips? You hate my instruction and cast my words behind you. When you see a thief, you join with him; you throw in your lot with adulterers. You use your mouth for evil and harness your tongue to deceit. You sit and testify against your brother and slander your own mother’s son. When you did these things and I kept silent, you thought I was exactly like you. But I now arraign you and set my accusations before you. (Psalm 50:3-21)

You will throw them in a flaming furnace when you appear. Yehovah will consume them in his anger; fire will devour them. (Psalm 21:9)

You will capture all your enemies. Your strong right hand will seize all who hate you. (Psalm 21:8)

So it will happen in that day, That Yehovah will punish the host of heaven on high, And the kings of the earth on earth. They will be gathered together Like prisoners in the dungeon, And will be confined in prison; And after many days they will be punished.
(Isaiah 24:21-22)

to execute vengeance on the nations and punishments on the peoples, to bind their kings with chains and their nobles with fetters of iron, to execute on them the judgment written!…(Psalm 149:7-9)

But the beast was captured, and with it the false prophet who had performed the signs on its behalf. With these signs he had deluded those who had received the mark of the beast and worshiped its image. The two of them were thrown alive into the fiery lake of burning sulfur.(Revelation 19:20)

Yet the river of lava will not originate from Jerusalem, which is where the throne of the Messiah will be, which will be in a temple that will be built on Mount Moriah before his second coming, next to the Dome of the Rock, built by those who trampled Jerusalem for around 1,260 years before Israel took possession of Jerusalem again, which is the mount where the two previous temples stood, which will be the first place Yeshuah will rule the earth from,

Then the moon will be abashed and the sun ashamed, For Yehovah of armies will reign… in Jerusalem, And His glory will be before His elders. (Isaiah 24:23)

Thus says Yehovah: I have returned… and will dwell in the midst of Jerusalem, and Jerusalem shall be called the City of Truth... (Zechariah 8:3)

I was given a reed like a measuring rod and was told, “Go and measure the temple of God and the altar, with its worshipers. but do not measure the court outside the temple; leave that out, for it is given over to the nations, and they will trample the set-apart city for forty-two months. (Revelation 11:1-2)

Then Solomon began to build the temple of Yehovah in Jerusalem on Mount Moriah, where Yehovah had appeared to his father David. It was on the threshing floor of Araunah the Jebusite, the place provided by David. (2 Chronicles 3:1)

and he told him, ‘Take these articles and go and deposit them in the temple in Jerusalem. And rebuild the house of God on its site.‘ “So this Sheshbazzar came and laid the foundations of the house of God in Jerusalem. From that day to the present it has been under construction but is not yet finished.” (Ezra 5:15-16)

But the river of lava will originate from Zion,

…declares Yehovah, whose fire is in Zion… (Isaiah 31:9)

For Zion is a mountain, hence “Mount Zion”, which does not exist yet, because it will be the highest mountain on the earth, which is currently not anywhere in Israel, for the highest mountain in Israel is considered to be Mount Hermon, which is considered to have an altitude of around 2,236m, as opposed to Mount Everest which is considered to be around 8,848m, Mount Godwin-Austen at around 8,611m, Mount Kanchenjunga at around 8,586m, and hundreds of other mountains throughout the earth that are higher than the highest mountain in Israel,

In visions of God he took me to the land of Israel and set me on a very high mountain… (Ezekiel 40:2-5)

In the last days the mountain of Yehovah… will be established as the highest of the mountains; it will be exalted above the hills… (Isaiah 2:2-3)

In the last days the mountain of Yehovah… will be established as the highest of the mountains; it will be exalted above the hills… (Micah 4:1)

Yet this mountain will come into existence and will rise up at the second coming of the Messiah, possibly in the earthquake that will be felt all around the earth on the day of his coming, or in another way that remains a mystery,

The sky was rolled up like a scroll, and every mountain and island was removed from its place. Then the kings of the earth and the great ones and the generals and the rich and the powerful, and everyone, slave and free, hid themselves in the caves and among the rocks of the mountains, calling to the mountains and rocks, “Fall on us and hide us from the face of him who is seated on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb, for the great day of their wrath has come, and who can stand?” (Revelation 6:14-17)

Which is when the river of lava will also begin to flow, from the newly formed Mount Zion, which will flow towards the south, towards Negev, which will possibly burn through Yatir Forest in the northern part of Negev,

Son of man, set your face toward the south; preach against the south, and prophesy against the forest land in the Negev. Say to the forest of the Negev, Hear the word of Yehovah: Thus says the Master Yehovah, Behold, I will kindle a fire in you, and it shall devour every green tree in you and every dry tree. The blazing flame shall not be quenched… All flesh shall see that I Yehovah have kindled it; it shall not be quenched. (Ezekiel 20:46-48)

And the lava will flow towards the north, towards Jerusalem, which is why Yeshuah called the place of fire “Gehenna”, for the lava will flow into the Valley of Hinnom, which is what the name “Gehenna” means, and will form into a lake of lava outside the southern wall of old Jerusalem, which will thus be the location where punishment will be rendered to each man that is judged,

…declares Yehovah, whose fire is in Zion, and whose furnace is in Jerusalem. (Isaiah 31:9)

The blazing flame shall not be quenched, and all surfaces from south to north shall be scorched by it. All flesh shall see that I Yehovah have kindled it; it shall not be quenched. (Ezekiel 20:47-48)

And if your eye should cause you to stumble, cast it out; it is better for you to enter into the kingdom of God with one eye, than having two eyes, to be cast into Gehenna, where ‘their worm does not die, and the fire is not quenched.’ (Mark 9:47-48)

Which will be an unquenchable fire because of the difficulty of quenching lava, which is known to remain hot for months even though the top layer dries quickly, yet as new lava flows into the lake of lava, new layers of hot lava will form above cooler and older layers of lava, thus always keeping the lake of lava hot, and as the lawless are literally thrown into the lake of lava, naked, the dry lava will cut like glass because lava is both rock and metal, and the hot lava beneath will scorch with tremendous heat like an oven and could also ignite with fire, thus causing death by being burned alive in a terrifying and excruciatingly painful way, which will thus be the torment the punishment the lake of lava is predestined to inflict,

he also will drink the wine of God’s wrath, poured full strength into the cup of his anger, and he will be tormented with fire and sulfur in the presence of the set-apart angels and in the presence of the Lamb. (Revelation 14:10)

And because of the high viscosity of lava and as millions of lawless ones die in the lake of lava, their corpses will remain on the surface, which will result in worms coming to life and feeding on those corpses on the surface, which will be seen by men around the lake of lava, including those in Jerusalem, which will be something disgusting to behold, and will thus fulfill this prophecy,

And they will go out and look on the dead bodies of those who rebelled against me; the worms that eat them will not die, the fire that burns them will not be quenched, and they will be loathsome to all mankind. (Isaiah 66:24)

Which will be a punishment rendered unto “the living and the dead”, for it will be the first and final death for the living that are judged and thrown in it, among all the nations that will be gathered by the Messiah at his second coming, yet it will be a second and final death unto the dead that are judged and thrown in it, who will be resurrected a thousand years later after the rulership of the Messiah is complete,

I charge you in the presence of God and of Christ Jesus, who is to judge the living and the dead, and by his appearing and his kingdom: (2 Timothy 4:1)

but they will give account to him who is ready to judge the living and the dead. (1 Peter 4:5)

And I saw the dead, great and small, standing before the throne, and books were opened. Another book was opened, which is the book of life. The dead were judged according to what they had done as recorded in the books. The sea gave up the dead that were in it, and death and Hades gave up the dead that were in them, and each person was judged according to what they had done. (Revelation 20:12-13)

Then death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. The lake of fire is the second death. (Revelation 20:14)

Blessed and set-apart are those who share in the first resurrection. The second death has no power over them… (Revelation 20:6)

For the lake of lava will destroy both body and soul,

And you should not be afraid of those killing the body but not being able to kill the soul. Indeed rather you should fear the One being able to destroy both soul and body in Gehenna. (Matthew 10:28)

Which means that everyone thrown there will be annihilated and cease to exist, including angels and demons, who will be transformed into the form of flesh and bones, to burn and die, and as the the corpses continue to be eaten by worms and also continue to be consumed by the lava, all the lawless will be reduced to mere ashes, and will be trampled by the righteous when the lava dries and cools,

Then you will trample on the wicked; they will be ashes under the soles of your feet on the day when I act, says Yehovah Almighty. (Malachi 4:3)

The wicked man sees it and is angry; he gnashes his teeth and melts away; the desire of the wicked will perish! (Psalm 112:10)

For his anger lasts only a moment, but his favor lasts a lifetime; weeping may stay for the night, but rejoicing comes in the morning. (Psalm 30:5)

You were the seal of perfection, full of wisdom and perfect in beauty. 13 You were in Eden, the garden of God… Through your widespread trade you were filled with violence, and you sinned. So I drove you in disgrace from the mount of God, and I expelled you, guardian cherubfrom among the fiery stones. 17 Your heart became proud on account of your beauty, and you corrupted your wisdom because of your splendor. So I threw you to the earth; I made a spectacle of you before kings. 18 By your many sins and dishonest trade you have desecrated your set-apart places. So I made a fire come out from you, and it consumed you, and I reduced you to ashes on the ground in the sight of all who were watching. 19 All the nations who knew you are appalled at you; you have come to a horrible end and will be no more.’ (Ezekiel 28:12-19)

I said, “You are gods, sons of the Most High, all of you; nevertheless, like men you shall die, and fall like any prince.” (Psalm 82:6-7)

In the synagogue there was a man possessed by a demon, an unclean airflow. He cried out at the top of his voice,
“Go away! What do you want with us, Yeshuah of Nazareth? Have you come to destroy us? I know who you are–the Set-Apart One of God!” (Luke 4:33-34)

Just then a man in their synagogue who was possessed by an unclean airflow cried out, “What do you want with us, Yeshuah of Nazareth? Have you come to destroy us? I know who you are–the Set-Apart One of God!” (Mark 1:23-24)

And because of how long the lake of lava will continue to burn is why it is called an “aeonial fire”, because it will burn for one aeon, the aeon of the rulership of the Messiah on earth for one thousand years,

“Then he will say to those on his left, ‘Depart from me, you who are cursed, into the aeonial fire… (Matthew 25:41)

And whoever speaks a word against the Son of Man will be forgiven, but whoever speaks against the set-apart airflow will not be forgiven, either in this aeon nor in the one coming. (Matthew 12:32)

And will burn until the aeons of the aeons, which begin in the new heaven and new earth, which is also the end of the rulership of the Messiah on this earth,

And the smoke of their torment goes up to aeons of aeons… (Revelation 14:11)

Then the end will come, when he hands over the kingdom to God the Father after he has destroyed all dominion, authority and power. (1 Corinthians 15:24)

Then I saw “a new heaven and a new earth,” for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and there was no longer any sea… And there will be no night there; and they have no need of a lamp, and the light of the sun, for the Master God enlightens them; and they shall reign into the aeons of the aeons. (Revelation 21:1-5)

Which is when the former earth will vanish, along with the lake of lava that existed on it,

Then I saw a great white throne and him who was seated on it. From his presence earth and sky fled away, and no place was found for them. (Revelation 20:11)

Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away. (Matthew 24:35)

For truly I tell you, until heaven and earth disappear, not the smallest letter, not the least stroke of a pen, will by any means disappear from the Law until everything is accomplished. (Matthew 5:18)

Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away. (Mark 13:31)

And in this way, it will be the fire that comes from Mount Zion that will destroy all the lawless, yet Mount Zion will also be the place where the people of the Messiah will be taken to after having been gathered at his second coming, also the mountain where a city will be built for Yeshuah and his people to live in, and also the mountain where the temple Ezekiel saw in a vision will be built, through the rulership of the Messiah, which will thus be where his eventual throne will be, and will thus be the eventual place he will eventually rule the earth from after first ruling from Jerusalem when he returns, “Mount Zion”,

his throne was fiery flames; its wheels were burning fire. A river of fire issued and came out from before him. Thousands upon thousands served him… (Daniel 7:10)

Then the moon will be abashed and the sun ashamed, For Yehovah of armies will reign on Mount Zion and in Jerusalem, And His glory will be before His elders. (Isaiah 24:23)

Thus says Yehovah: I have returned to Zion and will dwell in Jerusalem. Then Jerusalem will be called the City of Truth and the mountain of Yehovah of armies, the set-apart mountain. (Zechariah 8:3)

“In that day,” declares Yehovah, “I will gather the lame; I will assemble the exiles and those I have brought to grief. I will make the lame my remnant, those driven away a strong nation. Yehovah will rule over them in Mount Zion from that day and aeonially. (Micah 4:6-7)

On this mountain Yehovah Almighty will prepare a feast of rich food for all peoples, a banquet of aged wine– the best of meats and the finest of wines. On this mountain he will destroy the shroud that enfolds all peoples, the sheet that covers all nations; he will swallow up death… The Master Yehovah will wipe away the tears from all faces; he will remove his people’s disgrace from all the earth. Yehovah has spoken. In that day they will say, “Surely this is our God; we trusted in him, and he saved us. This is Yehovah, we trusted in him; let us rejoice and be glad in his salvation.” The hand of Yehovah will rest on this mountain; but Moab will be trampled in their land as straw is trampled down in the manure. (Isaiah 25:6-10)

I say to you that many will come from the east and the west, and will recline at the table with Abraham, Isaac and Jacob in the kingdom of heaven. (Matthew 8:11)

Yehovah swore an oath to David, a sure oath he will not revoke: One of your own descendants I will place on your throne. If your sons keep my covenant and the statutes I teach them always, then their sons will sit on your throne always. For Yehovah has chosen Zion, he has desired it for his dwelling, saying, “This is my resting place always; here I will always sit enthroned, for I have desired it. I will bless her with abundant provisions; her poor I will satisfy with food. I will clothe her priests with salvation, and her faithful people will ever sing for joy. “Here I will make a horn grow for David and set up a lamp for my anointed one. I will clothe his enemies with shame, but his head will be adorned with a radiant crown.” (Psalm 132:11-18)

A song of ascents. Of David. How good and pleasant it is when God’s people live together in unity! It is like precious oil poured on the head, running down on the beard, running down on Aaron’s beard, down on the collar of his robe. It is as if the dew of Hermon were falling on Mount Zion. For there Yehovah bestows his blessing, even aeonial life. (Psalm 133:1-3)

Oh, that Israel’s deliverance would come from Zion! When Yehovah restores the fortunes of His people, Jacob will rejoice; Israel will be glad.  (Psalm 14:7)

Oh, that salvation for Israel would come out of Zion! When God restores the fortunes of his people, let Jacob rejoice, let Israel be glad. (Psalm 53:6)

Then you will know that I, Yehovah your God, dwell in Zion, my set-apart mountain. Jerusalem will be set-apart; never again will foreigners invade her. (Joel 3:17)

Then Yehovah will create over all of Mount Zion and over those who assemble there a cloud of smoke by day and a glow of flaming fire by night; over everything the glory will be a canopy. It will be a shelter and shade from the heat of the day, and a refuge and hiding place from the storm and rain. (Isaiah 4:5-6)

What will one answer the messengers of the nation? “Yehovah has founded Zion, and in her the afflicted of his people find refuge.” (Isaiah 14:32)

In visions of God he took me to the land of Israel and set me on a very high mountain, on whose south side were some buildings that looked like a city. So he took me there, and I saw a man whose appearance was like bronze; he was standing in the gateway with a linen cord and a measuring rod in his hand. The man said to me, “Son of man, look carefully and listen closely and pay attention to everything I am going to show you, for that is why you have been brought here. Tell the people of Israel everything you see.” I saw a wall completely surrounding the temple area. The length of the measuring rod in the man’s hand was six long cubits, each of which was a cubit and a hand breadth. He measured the wall; it was one measuring rod thick and one rod high. (Ezekiel 40:2-5)

In the last days the mountain of Yehovah’s temple will be established as the highest of the mountains; it will be exalted above the hills, and all nations will stream to it. Many peoples will come and say, “Come, let us go up to the mountain of Yehovah, to the temple of the God of Jacob. He will teach us his ways, so that we may walk in his paths.” The law will go out from Zion, the word of Yehovah from Jerusalem. (Isaiah 2:2-3)

In the last days the mountain of Yehovah’s temple will be established as the highest of the mountains; it will be exalted above the hills, and peoples will stream to it. (Micah 4:1)

It is he who will build the temple of Yehovah, and he will be clothed with majesty and will sit and rule on his throne. And he will be a priest on his throne. And there will be harmony between the two.’ (Zechariah 6:13)

A song. A psalm of the Sons of Korah. Great is Yehovah, and most worthy of praise, in the city of our God, his set-apart mountainBeautiful in elevation, the joy of the whole earth, like the remote parts of the north is Mount Zion, the city of the Great King. God is in her citadels; he has shown himself to be her fortress…. Mount Zion rejoices, the villages of Judah are glad because of your judgments. Walk about Zion, go around her, count her towers, consider well her ramparts, view her citadels, that you may tell of them to the next generation. (Psalm 48:1-13)

And I will shake all nations, so that the treasures of all nations shall come in, and I will fill this house with glory, says Yehovah of armies. The silver is mine, and the gold is mine, declares Yehovah of armies. The latter glory of this house shall be greater than the former, says Yehovah of armies. And in this place I will give peace, declares Yehovah of armies. (Haggai 2:7-9)

You will arise and have pity on Zion; it is the time to favor her; the appointed time has come. For your servants hold her stones dear and have pity on her dust. Nations will fear the name of Yehovah, and all the kings of the earth will fear your glory. For Yehovah builds up Zion; he appears in his glory(Psalm 102:13-16)

But Yehovah reigns aeonially. He has prepared his throne for judgment. He will judge the world in righteousness. He will administer judgment to the peoples in uprightness. Yehovah will also be a refuge for the oppressed, a refuge in times of trouble. Those who know your name will put their trust in you, for you, Yehovah, have not forsaken those who seek you. Sing praises to Yehovah, who dwells in Zion, and declare among the people what he has done. (Psalm 9:7-11)

Yet have I set my king upon my set-apart mountain of Zion. (Psalm 2:6)

Awake, awake, Zion, clothe yourself with strength…(Isaiah 52:1)

From Zion, perfect in beauty, God shines forth. Our God comes and will not be silent; a fire devours before him… (Psalm 50:2-3)

who shall dwell in your set-apart mountain? He who walks is perfect and does what is righteous and speaks truth in his heart (Psalm 15:1)

Arise, shine, for your light has come, and the glory of Yehovah has risen upon you. For behold, darkness shall cover the earth, and thick darkness the peoples; but Yehovah will arise upon you, and his glory will be seen upon you. And nations shall come to your light, and kings to the brightness of your rising… Foreigners shall build up your walls, and their kings shall minister to youfor in my wrath I struck you, but in my favor I have had mercy on you. 11 Your gates shall be open continually; day and night they shall not be shut, that people may bring to you the wealth of the nations, with their kings led in procession. 12 For the nation and kingdom that will not serve you shall perish; those nations shall be utterly laid waste. 13 The glory of Lebanon shall come to you, the cypress, the plane, and the pine, to beautify the place of my set-apart place, and I will make the place of my feet glorious. 14 The sons of those who afflicted you shall come bending low to you, and all who despised you shall bow down at your feet; they shall call you the City of Yehovah the Zion of the Set-Apart One of Israel(Isaiah 60:1-14)

For Zion’s sake I will not keep silent, and for Jerusalem’s sake I will not be quiet, until her righteousness goes forth as brightness, and her salvation as a burning torch. The nations shall see your righteousness, and all the kings your gloryand you shall be called by a new name that the mouth of Yehovah will give… Behold, Yehovah has proclaimed to the end of the earth: Say to the daughter of Zion, “Behold, your salvation comes; behold, his reward is with him, and his recompense before him.” 12 And they shall be called The Set-Apart People, The Purchased of Yehovah; and you shall be called Sought Out, A City Not Forsaken. (Isaiah 62:1-12)

Who has ever heard of such things? Who has ever seen things like this? Can a country be born in a day or a nation be brought forth in a moment? Yet no sooner is Zion in labor than she gives birth to her children. (Isaiah 66:8)

But you have come to Mount Zion, and the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to myriads of angels, (Hebrews 12:22)

Then I looked, and there before me was the Lamb, standing on Mount Zion, and with him 144,000 who had his name and his Father’s name written on their foreheads. (Revelation 14:1)

And a river of water will also flow from Mount Zion, which will flow to the east to the Dead Sea, causing it to become fresh, which will become full of fish, and on the sides of the river will grow trees, which will provide food and healing to man,

Then he brought me back to the door of the temple, and behold, water was issuing from below the threshold of the temple toward the east, for the temple faced east. The water was flowing down from below the south end of the threshold of the temple, south of the altar. Then he brought me out by way of the north gate and led me around on the outside to the outer gate that faces toward the east; and behold, the water was trickling out on the south side. Going on eastward with a measuring line in his hand, the man measured a thousand cubits, and then led me through the water, and it was ankle-deep. Again he measured a thousand, and led me through the water, and it was knee-deep. Again he measured a thousand, and led me through the water, and it was waist-deep. Again he measured a thousand, and it was a river that I could not pass through, for the water had risen. It was deep enough to swim in, a river that could not be passed through. And he said to me, “Son of man, have you seen this?” Then he led me back to the bank of the river. As I went back, I saw on the bank of the river very many trees on the one side and on the other. And he said to me, “This water flows toward the eastern region and goes down into the Dead Sea, and enters the sea; when the water flows into the sea, the water will become fresh. And wherever the river goes, every living creature that swarms will live, and there will be very many fish. For this water goes there, that the waters of the sea may become fresh; so everything will live where the river goes. Fishermen will stand beside the sea. From En-Gedi to En-Eglaim it will be a place for the spreading of nets. Its fish will be of very many kinds, like the fish of the Great Sea. But its swamps and marshes will not become fresh; they are to be left for salt. And on the banks, on both sides of the river, there will grow all kinds of trees for food. Their leaves will not wither, nor their fruit fail, but they will bear fresh fruit every month, because the water for them flows from the set-apart place. Their fruit will be for food, and their leaves for healing.” (Ezekiel 47:1-12)

Which implies the location of Mount Zion will be south of Jerusalem, west of the Dead Sea, and north of Negev, which will possibly be around Mount Hebron or the Judaean Mountains.
